What Is Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression Therapy?
Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression Therapy is a non-invasive procedure
that was developed for the treatment of lower back pain caused by disc
herniations and degenerative disc disease. The process is effective in
relieving low back pain by enlarging intradiscal space, reducing
herniation, strengthening outer ligaments to help move herniated areas
back into place, and reversing high intradiscal pressures through
application of negative pressure.
What Is The Principal Behind Decompression Therapy?
Imagine your spine as a bunch of blocks- stacked on top of each
other, 24 blocks to be exact. In between each block is a disk. Disks
are built likea jelly doughnut jelly on the inside and tough ligament
tissue on the outside. The outside of the disk is made up of tough
fibers called the annulus fibrosis and the inside is a soft jellylike
substance. . . Nucleus Pulposis.

When the outer part of the disk is injured, or torn, the jellylike material on the inside can leak out. This is called a herniated disk.
Its like squishing a jelly doughnut and watching the jelly come out
the hole. If the outer annulus is not torn all the way through the
outside, the disk can bulge without herniating. For Example, like if
you step on a balloon and it doesnt pop. The balloon bulges out to
one side or the other without the rubber breaking.
When the disk bulges or herniates, the torn ligament in the outer
part of the disc can cause major back pain just like tearing a
ligament in your knee or ankle. It can also pinch the delicate nerves
that pass by as they come out of the spine.
Thats what can cause radiating pain . . . or pain, tingling and numbness going down your leg and possibly into your toes.
and possibly into your toes.
This is often referred to as SCIATICA. Under normal
conditions the disc gets its nutrients by diffusion during the day,
your body weight compresses the discs and squishes some of the fluid
out, taking the days garbage with it. At night, when you are lying
down and the pressure is off the discs, fluids re-enter the disc and
bring nutrients along to nourish the disc, and help heal little
injuries.
BUT, when the
inside of the disc has been injured, the jelly gets pushed down the tear
and this increases pressure inside the disc, and when you lie down this
increased pressure hampers the flow of fluids and nutrients into the
disc. Without oxygen, water and nutrients, healing does
not occur! It would be like cutting the end of your finger, then
wrapping an elastic band around your finger you would see that it
would not heal.
Over time, the disc cells, being starved of oxygen and nutrients,
begin to die. As more and more disc cells die, the disc gets thinner
and thinner. This is the disc degeneration many people have been told
they have-often people are told it is due to aging. We know now that it
is due to a lack of nutrition. It is NOT due to aging.
If it was due to aging all the discs would degenerate at about the
same time, but they dont. It is usually due to previous injury.
How Does Decompression Therapy Work?
DRX 9000 Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression machine
creates a negative pressure inside your disc and suck nutrients back in, stimulate healing.
Just imagine your Disc as a lawn if you dont give your lawn enough
water in the summer it begins to die out. More and more blades of
grass turn yellow and less and less remain green. If you give your
grass more water, the process reverses. If you add fertilizer it grows
even thicker. The health of the grass is dependent on the supply of
water and nutrients. The health of the disc is also dependent on the
supply of water and nutrients.
By naturally creating a negative pressure inside the disc, the fluids
and nutrients get sucked into the disc and the disc is able to begin to
heal. Some of the jelly also returns back into the disk, relieving
pressure on the pinched nerve, and the pain is relieved. This process
takes away your pain and symptoms by stimulating healing, instead of
masking it with drugs or cutting parts out with surgery. In fact,
studies in rabbits with degenerated discs show that this type of axial
decompression results in the growth of huge numbers of new disc cells!
Through the combination of proven scientific principles, the latest
technological developments and the brilliant work of a specialized team
of physicians and medical engineers- Axiom Worldwide, a medical
manufacturing company, now offers this breakthrough technology in its
incredible DRX 9000 Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression machine.
The process using the DRX 9000 equipment has proven to relieve pain by:
- Reversing the high intra-discal pressures through the application of negative pressure.
- Bringing water, oxygen and other nutrients into the disc
- Increasing the thickness of the disk
- Reducing herniations
- Strengthening outer ligaments to help move herniated material back into place
The DRX 9000 relieves pain fast, by stimulating healing !
A very important note: the DRX 9000 has been successful with even the
most severe cases. . . Even when NOTHING else has worked. Even after failed surgery.
What Are Treatments With The DRX 9000 Like?
After being fitted with an automatic shoulder support system, the DRX
9000 slowly lowers you to a horizontal position, so you are lying face
up. The automatic shoulder support system helps to stabilize your upper
body. The advanced computer system automatically adjusts to the proper
angle of distraction, a lordotic air bladder system acts as a fulcrum
to the angle of pull, allowing us to target specific disks. . . the ones that are causing your pain and symptoms .
The distractive forces of the DRX 9000 utilize a logarithmic curve to
avoid proprioceptor response, and therefore no muscle spasm will occur.
The split table design decreases friction and allows separation of the
vertebrae, reversing the effect of gravity. All day you sit or stand
and your body weight squishes water and nutrients out of your disc
decompression fills the disc with water and nutrients again, that are
unable to get back in on their own, and this enables the disc to heal.
Basically, you lie face up and the amazing DRX 9000 computer creates a
negative pressure in the disc, which helps herniated material return to
its normal position, and brings in fluids and nutrients to help the
disc heal, and this stops the pain.
Patients describe the treatment as a gentle, painless, intermittent pulling on their back. And like I said before, it can be so relaxing many patients actually fall asleep during treatment.
How Is The DRX 9000 Different From Traction Devices?
Regular traction has been around for a long time. Its results with back pain have been minimal at best.
The big problem with traction is that your back muscles feel the pull
on your spine, and your muscles tighten up in response, resulting in
poor results. The DRX 9000 applies specific forces very slowly so that
you dont feel the pull and this bypasses your stretch reflexes, thereby
decreasing intra-discal pressure and enhancing fluid exchange within
the disk. This expands the space between the bones and restores nutrients and blood flow to the disk-which causes healing.
Its like the difference between tapping the tendon below your
kneecap with a reflex hammer which causes a reflex tightening of your
thigh muscle, making your leg move, or pushing slowly on the tendon. If
you push slowly on the tendon you can push very hard without causing
the thigh muscle to tighten. (Try it). Decompression works very
slowly, and the amount of pull increases on a logarithmic curve so there
is no reflex muscle tightening, enabling the creation of a negative
pressure inside the disc without any muscle spam making it relaxing, and effective.
MRI studies comparing traction to spinal decompression have shown
regular traction does not return herniated material back into the disk,
while spinal decompression does.
Patients also say the DRX 9000 is extremely comfortable. . . even
relaxing while traction can be very uncomfortable. Many people fall
asleep during DRX9000 treatment.
How Long Are Treatments And How Many Do You Need?
Research shows this treatment protocol gets most patients better in
20 treatments over 6 weeks. Weve had some patients get rid of severe
pain theyve had in their back and leg for years in as little as three
treatments but thats not common. Some older people with multiple
disc injuries and a long history of pain may require a few more
treatments for maximum improvement. We give you an estimate of how many
treatments we expect it to take, but everyone heals at different rates.
DRX 9000 has been approved by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration).
